MOLES, AGE SPOTS AND SUCH

Dr. Jennifer Daniels

Many African Americans are troubled by black moles that appear on the face as flat rounded spots around age 30 and spread. If left unattended, these may thicken, become raised and become black skin tags.

Some people find that these black moles continue to spread staying flat to the face and cover the better part of the cheek.

While these are almost never cancerous, they are disfiguring. This condition affects men and women alike. The medical name for this is Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra. The comparable condition in Caucasians is seborrhea Keratosis.

Standard medical therapy consists of cutting off the skin tags and using laser or dermabrasion for the flatter lesions. Complications are scarring, needing to have the procedure repeated and disfiguration until the face heals from the procedure. Bleaching creams are often helpful if started early but are not safe to use over large parts of the skin. Further, they do not address the underlying cause.

The skin reflects the interior of the body. When spots show up on the skin, it means that this material is accumulating inside the body as well. This harmless skin condition is a sign that it is time to remove wastes from the body before they interfere with the function of the body.

So, what is a lady to do? (YOU GUYS OUT THERE CAN DO THIS TOO)

As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. In this case, a pound of prevention is worth a ton of cure. While natural methods are helpful, it can take months before results are seen.

Once the situation has progressed to the level of a skin tag, it is best to have them removed. The measures below work best on the moles that are still flat or slightly raised.

There are choices. I will discuss dietary approaches, general skin care approach and internal herbal approach.

There are many dietary factors. These unsightly spots are caused by sugar and dairy in the diet. Sugar lurks in many places. Kool-Aid and sodas are big sources. Canned, bottled or frozen juice is another source of sugar that contributes to moles. Eliminating these beverages and switching to distilled water often causes spots to lighten up and shrink. While eating organic, would reduce chemicals, I have observed improvement in people who refuse to eat organic but stop their juices.

Next, it is important to remove impurities from the body that are finding their way to the skin. The most effective way to do this is to direct them to the toilet instead. Eating clay accomplishes this by attracting chemicals to the intestines. Once they are in the intestines, enemas can be very helpful in moving these chemicals the last few feet to the toilet. Enemas can be done at home or you can pay a colon therapist to do it for you. Both are effective in this regard. Many people are reluctant to do enemas or pay someone else to do them. This led me to develop Dr. Daniels’ VITALITY CAPSULES which aid in this process by cleansing the gallbladder, liver, and colon so that they may remove more chemicals and the chemicals do not end up in the skin.

External skin care can also make a difference. The skin is naturally acid. This aids the body in 2 major ways. Acid compounds are a very effective barrier and protect the internal body environment from what is outside. Fats (a type of acid) have the unique ability to form a strong sack that contains the organs and prevents unwanted materials from entering the body. This protects the body.

The body performs many functions. Each of these functions creates biological waste products. These waste products are uniformly acid. The skin acts as a place to deposit these acids so that they will not interfere with the functioning of vital body organs. So, every time that you see a mole or skin tag, be thankful. That stuff could have been deposited in the heart instead and caused a heart attack. This is the second benefit of having acids in the skin. The acidic skin environment functions as a safety valve so that internal organs are not damaged by acid compounds.

This is important to understand. Since acid compounds strengthen the skin, it is important to use acid to clean the skin. Most soaps are alkaline. Most soaps strip the protective acid layer from the skin and leave it vulnerable to environmental damage and unable to function to its full potential and give you a complexion free of moles.

The first step is to stop using bar soap or any soap on your skin. I was amazed when I stopped by the anti-aging counter at the health food store and a product for getting rid of wrinkles and age spots said, “use a non-soap” cleanser on the face. You may be wondering, “What is a non-soap cleanser?” There are many. My favorite non-soap cleanser is rice bran.

Rice bran nourishes the skin with B vitamins and minerals, strengthens the skin and makes it able to resist and remove these moles. Rice bran is also a mild exfoliant. This means it gently removes the outer layer of skin and removes blemishes as it goes.

You do not have to mess up the whole bathroom in order to use it and the price is about $1.00 per month. In order to use rice bran, place about 1 cup into a shallow unbreakable container. Place this where you would ordinarily place your soap dish. Wet your whole body. Take your index, middle and ring finger of one hand and pat the rice bran. It will stick to your fingers. Rub onto your wet skin. Continue this process until your whole body, face included, is done. Using your fingers, rinse off your face while rubbing gently. A sponge or cloth can be used to rinse the rice bran from the rest of your body. Your skin will feel great. Any odors will be gone but your skin will not feel squeaky clean. This is ok. Pat your skin dry. Apply liquid vitamin C from head to toe. Vitamin C is an acid that restores the protective layer to the skin and lessens the accumulation of chemicals that cause the undesirable moles. There are many preparations of liquid vitamin C on the market. My favorite is Twinlab. The additional benefit of liquid vitamin C is ashiness resolves and reapplication is not needed throughout the day as with some lotions.

So, there you have it. Preventing moles or lessening them once they occur can be approached with the natural means above in the privacy of your home.

Wishing You Good Health and Good Looks,
