The Gap Band is back and funkin' it up as only they can! The masters of funk close
out the century and herald a new millenium with the release of their new single,
"Funkin' Till 2000 Comz," from their new album, Y2K - Funkin' Till 2000
Comz on Big Trax/ Private I / Island/ Mercury Records. Joined by rap masters Snoop
Dogg and D.J. Quik, "Funkin' Till 2000 Comz" is poised to become the anthem
for the new millenium.
Cites Charlie Wilson, lead vocalist of the band, "We decided it was time for
the Gap Band to get back in the mix. Our music is heavily sampled these days, but
there is a new generation coming up who don't really know who we are. We have always
been trendsetters and now by hooking up with our friends, Snoop and Quik, we're back
at you with the full force!
'Funkin' Till 2000 Comz' is a monster party jam!"
Founded in 1967 by the Wilson brothers Charlie, Robert and Ronnie, The Gap Band took
its name from the most popular streets of the black business hub of their native
Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their sound has permeated three decades of musical trends. "Funkin'
Till 2000 Comz" is a prelude to the album Y2K - Funkin' Till 2000 Comz, now
available.
